Singer, songwriter, Grammy Award nominated Angie Stone joins me on TALK! with AUDREY RADIO to share information with me about her life, new label, new album, UNEXPECTED and mission. Stone, diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes ten years ago, also speaks candidly about living with diabetes and her role as the spokesperson for F.A.C.E. Diabetes, (Fearless African-Americans Connected and Empowered) a campaign and grassroots movement to help African-Americans to overcome key barriers to success in living with diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, 23.6 million people in the U.S., 7.8% of the population have diabetes. Of those, 17.9 million have been diagnosed, leaving 5.7 million yet to be diagnosed. Each year about 1.6 million people over the age of 20 are diagnosed.The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services lists diabetes as one of the leading causes of death for African-American women.
