Ingrid Floyd: Executive Director of IRIS HOUSE

Believe it or not, it has been 29 years since the first case of AIDS and HIV was diagnosed, according to the CDC . . . and there are still new cases being reported. This is a disease that is preventable, but according to experts; the rate of HIV infections among African-American women, Hispanic women and the teen population is increasing.

Audrey Adams spoke with Ingrid Floyd, Executive Director of Iris House . . . the nation’s first HIV/Aids agency to provide family focused services to women of color infected and affected by HIV about the important services Iris house provides and the work her agency does in the community, the challenges she faces; what she feels is needed to make a difference and stop the increase of the rate of infection of the virus . . . and what women can do to protect themselves from possibly becoming infected.
